December 15 , 2008 ![]() "If
you have spoken to another and your words did not help, it is proof you
did not speak with him but with yourself. Your words may be the words
you wanted to say, the words you believe, but they are not the words he
needed to hear. If you would speak to him and speak his words, then
certainly he would hear."
A friend of mine, a Rabbi, Tzvi Freeman, wrote these "Words to the Other". What he's really suggesting is for us to listen better to the feelings and needs of others. Sometimes I think I'm pretty good at listening to others. Other times, I realize I'm lousy at it. Just ask my wife, Lynn! Last Friday, I spent the day with sixty people who journeyed to the Wizard Academy to listen to "a famous architect" talk about the many buildings on the Wizard Campus. We talked about why the structures were placed where they were, how their design both influenced and was influenced by the site, the Owners and the Public. We examined, in detail, how each was infused with meaning through alignment, sacred geometries and numerology. We also talked about sustainability, both in business and in living: the idea of Conscious Community Making and bringing Green mainstream. Everybody present had an incredible time. At least six people have emailed or called expressing interest in Living The Better Life in CastleRock Texas. What really blows my mind, and allows me to see with my heart, is how everyone there listened. The high-powered listening was palpable. Since everybody was listening so well, everybody got it. Rabbi said, "If you have spoken to another and your words did not help, it is proof you did not speak with him but with yourself. Your words may be the words you wanted to say, the words you believe, but they are not the words he needed to hear. If you would speak to him and speak his words, then certainly he would hear." Everyone there, that day, heard the message of hope and determination. They heard with their heart's ears and understood the truths being shared. Friday last, is what I would call a wonderful day! ![]() P.S. If you'd like to hear what is being shared, check out www.castlerocktexas.com |
