DON'T REINVENT YOURSELF.
YOU WERE CREATED IN GOD'S IMAGE. DON'T MESS WITH GOD'S IMAGE.
INSTEAD, REVEAL YOURSELF.
ESCAPE THE STUFF THAT COVERS YOU UP, TIES YOU DOWN, RESTRAINS YOU, DETAINS YOU, DEBASES YOU, WHISPERS TO YOU THAT YOU'RE NO GOOD.
IF IT WEIGHS YOU DOWN, DROP IT!
IF IT LIFTS YOU UP, HANG ON!
IF IT IS TOO EASY, STEP IT UP!
IF IT IS TOO HARD, STAY AT IT!
IF IT MAKES YOU FEEL GOOD, QUESTION IT.
IF IT MAKES OTHERS FEEL GOOD, TREASURE IT.
IF IT FREES YOU, EMBRACE IT.
IF IT IMPRISIONS YOU, KILL IT!
EVOLVE!
These are tough times, times that call into question FAITH and COMMITMENT; Faith in our leaders, in our government, in our place, in ourselves and Commitment to our core beliefs.
The CORE belief under all the hopes of America, from our country's very founding, is,
"We are free to make of this a better place"
And yet, we feel the weirdness whirling around us, the meanness we see on television, the anger we hear on the radio, the unquiet we feel in our bones. It is this: WE HAVE LOST THE COMMITMENT TO OUR FAITH THAT WE HAVE THE POWER TO MAKE THIS A BETTER PLACE. Either we expect somebody else to make it better for us or we don't believe any longer that we, the individual, can make a difference.
"FAITH WITHOUT WORKS IS DEAD." Somebody I respect tremendously said that.
Faith is a muscle. Commitment to the EXERCISE of FAITH is working that muscle. Moving that muscle. Pumping that muscle. Rushing rich red blood to that muscle's every cell.
EVOLVE!
You want to survive and flourish in these tough times?
Stand on the edge of the cliff then, damn it. Lean over. Conquer the fear. Step off. EXERCISE the FAITH that struggles to burst forth through every one of us!
"There is a gravity about the edge. The edge is richer still than a razor to the skin. It draws us inexorably to a grander vista of ourselves, where we stand on the brink of understanding that the fall is forever and that the gift of flight is reserved for those who jump."
I believe in evolution.
