The
Emmy-award winning television series, Downtown, recently interviewed Marley
Porter concerning his efforts to reshape the Austin, Texas
skyline. The segment called Main
Street of Texas;
Going "Pro" in a "Pro" College Town,
and Birth of the Live Music Capital aired June 21, 2007 on local PBS
affiliate KLRU.
"We chose to feature Marley in our segment on the history and future
of Congress Avenue
because of his vision for a redevelopment project that incorporates saving
historic buildings. The project he shared with us includes saving three
historic buildings in their entirety and building a green, well-designed
residential condo tower above the buildings. Because this type of
redevelopment has not yet occurred in Austin, we felt it was important to
include a conversation with Marley about the possibility of a creative way
to preserve our history while creating the next generation of sustainable
buildings in downtown Austin,"

Roy Williams, the Wizard of Ads,
called Marley Porter one morning and said, "I'm going to buy a bell. A
big one." When Marley asked why, Roy
answered, "I'm not sure. Tell
me Marley, what kind of buildings get to have bells?" Chapel Dulcinea is the result of
that phone call. It is one of the most utilized wedding chapels in the
world.
